Better safe then sorry!

Ello loves,

Today I wanted to share why we choose to rear face our son Leland past the age if 1.

So many people I know, and I had the same mentality, that by age 1 our babies can flip their car seat and forward face.

Well, as you know, I'm a social nerd and some mommies I've come to know through Instagram (sushi2008) have taught me that, that theory to switch at 1 is a myth. In fact... The Actual car seat pamphlets highly recommend to rear face till the maximum weight and height
So I started researching and  researching. And it does make sense. Well thankfully when I came to know this information Leland was still a baby and rear facing. As he out grew his infant seat  we started to look up our best possible choices to continue to rear face and when he is ready to forward face what will grow with him.
 So the choice was....(drum roll)

Chicco nextfit!!

I absolutely love out nextfit!! Super easy to install. I mean seriously easy. It's like taking a shower easy. If you don't know how to shower then its not for you. Lol

Leland loves it too! Very comfy, and if we decided to grow the family from 3 to 4 it would be perfect for a newborn! Heehee ;)

If you chose to forward face there is no judgement here but just showing some facts that not everyone knows. I didn't know till I was told. So here is me, sharing with you some interesting facts. It's up to you.

Still emotionally attached

So I've been gone for a while. We've had some challenges in the household. My car broke down, we fixed it. Then my husbands broke down, fixed it. And broke again. It's probably been a back and forth game with our cars all month.

Finally, however, after much prayer and help we purchased our new lovely car!!

But, today I wanted to discuss my attachment to my birth story after 20 months.
I'm a natural birth advocate and believe as a women we have magical strength to conquer anything! It amazes me what our bodies go thru to carry life and the pain we deal with, all for the biggest joy in our entire lives. And to top it off, we will do it again and again!
However, I am also very grateful for what doctors and hospitals help us women such as myself when we need assistance.
So, I'm not a close minded hippie lady who doesn't support cesarean mothers, or formula feed babies. I support all mothers.

In my heart I was meant to deliver vaginally! I believe it! 20 months later I will cry and welp at how my body has failed me. And I know there's others that share the same feeling with me. It's not what we asked for but we know there wasn't a choice. Because at the end of the day we want our babies to be safe when they come into this world.

Chris and I talked about it all the time about having more kids. But I can't bear to think going under the knife again bc I already had a c section.
This time I will fight for my right. Of course if I get pre e again than I know I won't have a choice. But at least I would like to try.
That's why in trying to get my body in the right place to conceive again.

Anyways that's my vent.

Thanks

Firm believer it works!

Hey hey hey!!

I've been a bit MIA...
This week my husband and I decided to stay firm and loyal to our juice fast.
We needed a cleanse and my husbands BFF is getting married soon and he's in the wedding. So we needed to lose a couple pounds safely, naturally and accurately.

Let me begin with why I fell in love with juicing and the reason this was my choice to lose weight.

*after reading this blog hurry and watch fat sick nearly dead. It's a documentary that will inspire you! *

As above I was inspired to begin this clean eating like in the documentary.
I had always been knowledgable of the natural, organic world due to my mother, who is a naturalist and aerobics instructor.
When I was younger we were vegans once.
^^ just a small FYI^^

Anyways to make the long story short,
I called up my mother to help me get started.
I purchased my first juicer for $24.00 at Walmart.
That very day I started my journey.
I started with a 3 day cleanse, and never felt better!! Wanted to try a 30 day fast but I failed.

I continued to juice afterwards but still had regular meals.
I introduced my son to as well.
In our home besides my husband we DO NOT drink any type of juice if its not from the juicer!

So back to this past week on our juice fast.
The first 2 days went great. The 3rd day was defiantly my detox!!
I mean I was passing gas that can kill someone And burps that smelt like I had passed gas!!! Sorry TMI!
But that very next morning my tummy was flatter and I felt a sense of balance.
I felt so light and peaceful with myself
AND LOST 4 lbs!!!!
.
So I started introducing foods slowly.
Breakfast was a hearty juice with hard boiled egg and several black berries
Lunch: juice
Dinner : juice/ stir fry no rice light soy.

Snack: juice.

And WATER WATER! And WATER!!!

For my husband he's detox began on that 4th day.
He was in the toilet all night.

But he shares with me he felt great afterwards and would do it again.

So I convinced my mother in law to begin a fast with me this coming week.

My favorite recipes:

(I always start with a green leafy base)

~spinach/ kale
~celery
~apples
~oranges
~ ginger

*kale
*oranges
*carrots
*strawberries

*carrots
*cucumber
*apples

Any question bout juicing send me an email
Would love to help!!!

Thousand years!

everything i do is for you
So I had a completly diffrent post written for today. but as I was writing it, I had my play list on and this song came on and shook up some deep emotions. So the other post just didn't fit right.

When I got married the first couple months I suffered with alot of loneliness. when I was dating my husband I had been through a lot with family, a battle between me and myself. He never left my side.

**Real quick about my husband** he is a VERY shy man!! He sticks to himself and soft spoken. a heart of pure gold, honest spoken and kind hearted.

He defended me when people doubted me and even our relationship. The crazy thing is I knew this man would be my husband since the 6th grade. That's middle school people!!
us in 2008

Anyways, back on topic...I remember 2 months into our marriage I would beg him for a baby! I felt I was ready and needed a child to complete something that felt so empty. He knew we weren't ready, not only were we newlyweds but finacially.
He would always ask the question of why I felt the need to have a child?
My response was because I want to feel love unconditionally. I want someone to ALWAYS love me, choose me 1st before anything. The need to be wanted.
All my life I lived to please the people around me.
Now I can realize that wasn't the right state of mind. To have a child is to love them unconditionally.

wedding 2010

UNPLANNED we were pregnant, 7 months into our marriage.

I was scared as hell! Wasn't ready. Thinking back to all those conversations we had and I regretted it. There was a point that I kinda wish I wasnt. I wasnt ready. I was in a place in my life where I felt happy.
Not only that, I didnt realize the impact of my mothers stillborn son would make on my pregnancy.

By 5 months, that's when I really started to connect with my son.

My decisions as a parent kicked in. I only wanted the best! I researched EVERYTHING!!!
  • my birth plan...peaceful waterbirth.
  • type of diapers i wanted.
  • what kind of food I wanted to provide, all down to the niddy griddy.

When the time came August 13th, it was time to meet my sweet baby boy.

That very first cry I heard of my son. I knew my life was to care for him to protect him from anything and everything!

'The bond I have with my wonderful Leland is undescribable
He has taught me who I am.
He helped me find the lost piece of my being.
Because of you my dearest, I love bigger, speak louder, stand taller.
Because of you my son, I gained a stronger faith in Jehovah God.
Because of you, I Will be forever gratful to your father.
Because of you, I know who I am.

Who am i?

I am your mother.

Just like the song that is playing: "I will love you for a thousand years"

I love you sweet baby!

Has it really been this long???

Hello again!!

It's been literally a year and some days since my last post! I was a brand new momma and learning about how to comfortable with myself as a mother. Although, I'm still learning and grasping new things, I feel like in this past year I have gained alot of knowledge as to the kind of parent I want to be.
Before I continue, let me just fill you in on the past year!

Leland Rene is almost 19 months old!!! :(
He signs a lot! Talks a lot of jibber, but I understand lol
Climbs, runs, fake cries lol and is such a curious little boy. I find so much joy in just watching him discover new things. It amazes me how someone so small can make such a drastic impact on your life!
He is starting to talk and repeat as well.
Loves food!! Avocado, pop pop's rice and beans!
Goes everywhere with his blankie and bobo (paci)
Loves bath time and yes, still on momma milk!! Oh yeah!! {insert victory dance here}

Dada/Chris:
My lovely husband has become such a hands on father, it's sexy!! Lol
He recently started a new job and now will be training to become manager. I'm so proud of this man, and I'm blessed to have him by my side.
He has become a crunchy daddy, although won't admit it.
Stuffs cloth diapers
Finds natural remedies
Extended rear face in this family!
And supports me with breastfeeding.
Best daddy award goes too...
Daddy!!

Now, me.

I'm older! Blah!
Went from a full time working office manager to a working, but, can bring my son with me momma.
Chopped off all my hair!! ( worst mistake ever!)
Gained weight ~ but currently working on that (next post)
Found a pure love in holistic care, natural ways
I JUICE, AND I LOVE IT!!
To sum it all down,
I'M A
CRUNCHY
JUICIN'
HIPPIE
MOMMA.

Enjoy some pics of our busy past year.

Love,

Momma & toddler Leland

Baby Bullet Review.

Hello lovelies,

Hope everyone had a good start to their march month. I know we have! We pressed play and will be doing the p90x challenge. Posting pics of our journey later on.

I would like to shout out a dear friend who was blessed with a beautiful baby boy this month. Mia Congrats on baby Cruze!! Can't wait to meet him!

Ok, back to my review.

I was fortunate to have 2 baby showers and my second shower a dear friend purchased us the baby bullet.
That was the first day I had even heard of such blender.
Anyways, I read everything and started to get stoked about preparing Leland's baby purees.
I didn't begin to introduce purees till about 6 months. And it's still to this day an occasional thing when I give him purees.
But finally the 6 month mark came and we decided to give it a try.
Our first choice of meal, yellow squash!
(I don't own a steamer, so I boiled it.)

It was quick and easy, and yummy according to Leland. :)

Pros:

1) small size and convenient.
2) takes no longer than 10 min including prep time.
3) comes with jars and storage for extra.
4) easy to store.
5) it's the best way to provide for your lil ones.

Cons:

1) Haven't come around one yet.

Therefore, My ratings for baby bullet is **** 4 stars!

This makes a great gift. However, It is slightly pricey for something so small. That's why I would only suggest to purchase this if you feel confident they will use it. It's not for everybody. There are some who are given baby food through some Programs. WIC for example.

We Recieve WIC and we just give it away to a mommy program in need.

Just a note: "food before 1,is just for fun!"

Leland only eats puree once in a blue moon. His majority is just Breast-milk.
I would say we give him puree about 2-3x a week, sometimes just 1.
He has interest but not where it needs to be 3x a day with diffrent types of food. Not trying to ruin his digestive system.

hope you enjoyed. Bottom is a show on how I did sweet potatoe.

XOXO
